African Church Priest, Rev Richard Peters congratulates Governor Udom Emmanuel on the tribunal victory
….Advises the opposition to sheath their sword and work collectively to build Akwa Ibom
Rev. Richard Peters has congratulated Gov. Udom Emmanuel on his victory at the state election petition tribunal, while urging him to continue in his superlative performance in governance without paying attention to voices of discord and distraction.
Speaking with Planet 101.1fm, Rev’d Peters was of the opinion that the victory of the Governor Udom Emmanuel at the tribunal goes a long way in heralding the freeness and fairness of the election as conducted by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr. Mike Igini in March this year.
He said “For the tribunal to say that the petitioner, Mr. Nsima Ekere could not prove his alleged irregularities, this goes a long way to confirm that the election conducted by Barr. Mike Igini passed a test of integrity, fairness and credibility. It also confirms that the peoples mandate entrusted to Deacon Udom Emmanuel is being upheld, the court is still the hope of the people. I want to thank the tribunal panel that upheld justice, fairness and equity, it is commendable. Congratulations to His Excellency”.
According to Rev’d Peters, the petitioners are employed to sheath their swords and work with Governor Emmanuel to collectively accomplish the set goals of the administration which he believes is for the good of all.
“At the polls they lost, at the tribunal they lost, they should not go any further, they should just stop at that level and accept the call from His Excellency to join hands and develop the State. This is the time that the people should be resolute and determine to support the government and also maintain whatever development that the government of Mr. Udom Emmanuel puts in place, the impact of this government is felt by everyone, I want him to continue to do that, and not to be distracted by blackmails, propaganda and lies”
He further congratulated the Governor on the event of the anniversary of the State creation and appealed to citizens to continue to support the industrialisation agenda of the state Governor while ensuring that established assets of the government are preserved and guarded judiciously.
