Nsit Ubium Lawmaker gets Works Commissioner’s Pledge To order contractors back to site on Itreto- Nung Obong Road

Following the visit of Ministry of Works to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for the 2019 budget appraisal, the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon (Barr) Otobong Effiong Bob, brought the attention of the Ministry to the sorry state of the Itreto – Nung Obong Road and the collapsed bridge at Nung Obong.

He pointed out that the road is largely impassable and that following the earth work done on the road, and the setting in of the rains, people’s houses and farmland are under threat.

The Honourable Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen, immediately decided to pay a visit to the construction site of the Itreto – Nung Obong Road for an on the spot assessment.

Meanwhile, on the Honourable Member’s insistence, the Works Commissioner has promised to order the contractors back to site with immediate effect.

Earlier, the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation had stated the Committee’s determination to visit some projects undertaken by various MDAs in order to ensure that projects for which disbursements have been made are not left undone.
