First Term Assessment: Udom Scores above Average in Infrastructural Development, Economic Growth ——NGO

As Governor Udom Emmanuel continues to give accounts of his first successful administration in Akwa Ibom State, and subsequent preparations for another four years tenure, the Governor has been scored above average in the areas of infrastructural development, economic growth and internal security in the State.

This follows a reality check assessment conducted by a non governmental organization in the State, the Network Advancement Programme for Poverty and Disaster Risk Reduction, NAPPDRR on the four years of Governor Emmanuel’s administration.

From the report gathered and made available to newsmen by the President of the group, Al Mustapha Emem Edoho at his office in Eket, the NAPPDRR attested that despite the economic recession at the beginning of the administration, the Governor has been able to successfully manage the lean resources available to achieve a lot for the State.

The good governance group also commended the speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Onofiok Luke for his complimentary role and synergy with the State executive.

Also commended are the Executive Chairman of Eket local government area Hon. Frank Archibong and his Esit Eket counterpart, Hon. Iniobong Robson for their respective roles towards embracing the Governor’s developmental strides and peaceful atmosphere to their respective areas, saying the two local government bosses have been working effectively with the Governor to maintain the peace and serene atmosphere of the State.

The NGO in the report said “as a good governance group, we endorse the planned financial autonomy to the local government councils in Nigeria from June 1 as it will bring rapid infrastructural development to the grassroots, particularly the most rural areas”.
