Since the creation of Akwa Ibom State in 1987, no government (Millitary and Civillian) has given the people of Udung Uko even one metre of access road – none! That’s how terrible their story was.
However, 32 years after, there’s a monolithic respite.
Moved by his determination to give new lease of life to the neglected parts of the State, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has constructed a massive road for the people of Udung Uko.
The road measuring 9 kilometres in Uliong Edikor – Uduetta with a spur cuts across over ten communities in Udung Uko and links Oron Local Government Area.
When the Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang, inspected the road on Tuesday, the state of the road is what you see below.
As you can see, this road will definitely relieve the sufferings of the villagers and other users who, for over 32 years, have grappled with the bedraggled and dilapidated road network.
