***Inaugurates Campaign Organization
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Eket local government area has restated their loyalty and firm position to deliver Governor Udom Emmanuel and all PDP Candidates in 2019 general elections. They maintained this decision during a stakeholders meeting of the party held at Eket Council Secretariat to mark the Christmas celebration.
Speaking, a former Minister of Land and Housing who is presently the political leader of PDP in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Chief Nduese Essien said that Udom Emmanuel has performed creditably and deserves to be given a second term.
Chief Essien maintained that the governor has justified the confidence bestowed on him by Akwa Ibom people with his laudable projects executed across the length and breath of the State, urging the people of Eket to stand firm to give their son the necessary support that he need to return to Hilltop Mansion in 2019.
The Chairman of Eket local government area, Hon. Frank Archibong in his remarks reaffirmed that Eket remain the stronghold of PDP and will continue to remain a PDP local government area. “Eket is PDP and PDP is Eket,” he emphasized.
Hon. Archibong who is also the ALGON Chairman in Akwa Ibom State said even when we have few Esau in our midst who are selling their destiny for peanuts, declared that Udom Emmanuel must serve for eight years like his predecessors from Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District respectively.
He lauded PDP for the line up of most credible men and women for the coming elections, describing them as performers with good track record of leadership.
He also cautioned those who want to sell their destiny for stipend, stating that posterity will not forgive everyone if Eket fail at their time. He urged members of the party to stand firm to vote all PDP Candidates, assuring that we the broom party boast about federal might that they will be defeated with Unit might which is Jesus Might.
Hon. Archibong thanked those who decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, commending them for standing on the path of peace, truth and progress. He described APC as lacking vision and direction, but only dedicating all their strength to rig election which will be strongly resisted.
He assured of PDP victory in 2019, saying the party will embark on a robust campaign that will ensure that every units, village and Ward’s which will guarantee victory at the poll.
“We are going to have a very robust campaign. We want to have a campaign that will enter every units, village and wards. We will soak the entire local government with PDP,” he added.
The House of Assembly member/Deputy Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence noted that it is only PDP that have the wherewithal to turn the State to a investors haven, commending governor Udom Emmanuel for bringing peace and development to Eket which has improved the living standard of the people. He called for more support for the governor and all party Candidates.
PDP Candidate for Eket Federal Constituency, Hon. Patrick Ifon assured of PDP victory in 2019 general elections, calling on the people to vote wisely and defend their votes.
A chieftain of the party and former House of Assembly member representing Eket State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Jack Udota said that Eket do not have any other option than to reelect Udom Emmanuel, encouraged them to stand firm and not be intimidated.
The youth through the Youth Caucus Chairman for Eket, Comrade Tommy Emodien said youth are the main players in any elections, promising to vote and defend their votes until result is announced.
Other speakers including Gen. Anthony Etukudo, Prof. Etie Ben Akpan and Chapter Woman Leader of PDP, Hon. Emem Francis in their separate speeches commended governor Udom Emmanuel, assured him of victory against all opposition in 2019.
Meanwhile, the PDP Campaign Organization in Eket local government area was inaugurated by the Chapter Chairman, ObongIwaad Emmanuel Mbong. The Campaign Organization is headed by the Council Chairman, Hon. Frank Archibong. Other members include Dr. Emmanuel Ekott, Chief Usoro I. Usoro, Hon. Ayang Akanimo, Chief Ikpe Ubokudom, Chief Akwaekong Idim, Essien Ndueso, among others.
