All is not well for Nsima Ekere and his 2019 governorship ambition as the key financial machinery put in place by him for the execution of his ambition has been bursted.
Nsima Ekere who may have banked hope on using his loot from the Niger Delta Development Commission may have to source for other channels as President Muhammadu Buhari is bent on ensuring he returns the N451 billion discovered to have been embezzled by Nsima Ekere. Nsima Ekere is the Managing Director of the NDDC.
The Federal Government had months ago sent group of auditors to audit the financial account of NDDC over several complains from the oil rich region that projects on ground were abysmal to the funds released to fund NDDC budget. The audited report indicted Nsima Ekere for siphoning N451billion through contracts found only on books across the Niger Delta States of the Federation. It was gathered that Nsima Ekere had tried twisting the situation on ground by offering the auditors mega sum of bribe which they turned down to the surprise of Mr Ekere.
It was gathered that the auditors had reported back to President Buhari who was irked on the merciless level of Ekere’s embezzlement as that may affect the President’s reelection campaign in the area.
Checks revealed that the Presidency had invited Nsima to Aso Villa with an order mandating him to return the loot within two weeks or stand a chance to loose his candidature in the forth coming governorship election in the State on the background of corruption charges.
Consequently, Nsima Ekere in collaboration with Senator Godswill Akpabio as gathered have put motion in place to meet with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole to intervene on his behalf so as to make the President understand that the looted funds is needed to execute successfully both the Presidential and Governorship election in the Akwa Ibom State.
