It was Nelson Mandela who said, “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Saturday, November 10, 2018 came like every other day, but hypocrisy had crept in, when a Former State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom, Mr.Ita Awak, was a guest on planet FM programme, tagged: community views.

Listeners will agree with me that, Ita Awak was a shadow of his old self, while struggling to make utterances he would never have agreed to. He had displayed a high level of hypocrisy when he attempted to deny some of his previous stance he had held against Akpabio. The big question is, is Ita Awak now afraid of Godswill Akpabio? The man he hitherto feasted on, and told the world how bad Akpabio was.

I listened to Ita Awak, and heard a man who was overtaken by hypocrisy. That Ita Awak could justify why an APC Aspirant, who picked form for the senate position and was shortlisted for House of Assembly, like JAMBITES, and Awak said,”the Party is supreme” which led to that decision.

This is the same Ita Awak who had in the past berated the Peoples Democratic Party on such utterance. I listened to a man whose principled stance had departed from him. A man PDP in Akwa Ibom used to reckon with, who left the APC as Publicity Secretary, and the position has remained vacant till date.

Ita Awak had previously called out the former Governor, Godswill Akpabio, but since Akpabio’s entry to Awak’s Party, the fear of Warsaw had enveloped Awak that he could not stand by the things he wrote against Akpabio anymore.

I had asked Ita Awak these questions, which he has been avoiding.
“Engr. Ita Awak, I wanted asking you this on radio, but the phone line was not opened.

1. Is it not sheer hypocrisy for you to go on air and say, “The party is supreme.” The very statement you’ve berated the PDP for in the past?

2. You claimed that your party intends to humanize politics, how can you defend a process where Kufre Etuk from Uruan picked form for senate and his name was shortlisted for House of Assembly like JAMB admission?

3. In the 16 years of PDP which you condemned, why did you not resign your position as Commissioner for Information under Gov Attah, since the PDP was that bad?

4. Sincerely, do you think a failure like Nelson Effiong should return to the senate in 2019? And since he is your party man, can you tell me how Nelson Effiong has been able to humanize politics?”

How on earth did Awak justify Nelson Effiong’s ill competent representation in Eket Senatorial District? How can someone like Nelson, in the mind of Awak humanize humanity? A man, even his party members from Eket Senatorial district have vowed, will not return to the senate.

How on earth could Ita say that, he does not want to work with Governor Udom and Arch.Victor Attah, on the MRO project at the airport, that if he does, the credit will go to Udom. I don’t think Ita means well for Akwa Ibom State. He only professes out of the abundance of his personal comfort.

This is a man who had enjoyed the comfort and paraphernalia of government when he served as Commissioner, but never resigned to register his disdain for the PDP government. People like Ita Awak has no locus to utter a word against the Party structure that brought him to limelight and gave him the platform to excel today.

The fear of the declaration of Warsaw has greatly affected the once vibrant Ita Awak, that his new found political god has made him lost touch with realities.

We have never known Ita Awak for mediocrity, but Saturday, he tried to rewrite history himself.

In generations to come, I’ll stand by all I had written in the past. Let Ita Awak know that politics, loyalty and governance are different elements.

According to Ita Awak, the Party is supreme, but I say today, the people are supreme not the party.

Where is your morality, Ita Awak?
