Head of Department (HOD) #CommunicationArts in the University of Uyo, Professor Des Wilson has chided the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere and former Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godwill Akpabio for raising what he called false assassination alarm as a guise to kill their opponents in the coming general election to attain their political selfish ends. Wilson bared his mind in a release he made in an online Akwa Ibom Yahoo listserv group, Ibom Forum.
The communication maestro reflected on the darkest history of Akwa Ibom State which was under the tenure of Akpabio/Ekere as governor and deputy governor respectively where kidnapping and assassination held sway as hundreds of people were kidnapped and assassinated without facing justice.
” This could be the beginning of a war against the people as we had between 2007 and 2015. It could, therefore, mark the beginning of the Warsaw saw war threat by Senator Akpabio” He said.
Prof. Wilson maintained that the said alarms raised could be a ploy to unleash an orgy of killing as a defense mechanism as well as to invite federal might and scare away opponent to pave the way for their easy ride to hilltop mansion as they believe without crooked means that could be a wishful thinking.
“It could be an alibi by the APC to launch their orgy of violence against the Akwa Ibom people… It could be a way of drawing attention to its underdog status and therefore seeking special support from Abuja. ”
The communication scholar, therefore called on the Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to be cautious and not to treat this with levity as such scary and flimsy alarm could portend an ominous sign of a large scale of violence that would come during the election from these “Warsaw saw war” mongers and architects, even as he called on the Akwa Ibom people to reject violent men in all ramifications.
“I wish to advise Governor Udom Emmanuel to be careful because there must be more than meets the eye here. His safety could also be in danger especially with the Warsaw chieftain on the other side. Akwa Ibom rejects violence”
